MEET MD. DR. HASAN DUYGULU
After graduating from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2009, Duygulu made his residentship at İzmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital for 5 years and completed his specialization in ENT & Head and Neck Surgery.
From the early years of his residency, his strong interest in facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery shaped the direction of his training and ultimately became the foundation of his professional career. Dr. Duygulu completed his specialization in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery in Izmir, where he developed a strong foundation in head and neck anatomy and reconstructive surgery. He subsequently devoted his professional career to the study and practice of facial rejuvenation, with a particular focus on advanced surgical techniques designed to achieve natural and harmonious facial outcomes.
Specialization and Advanced Surgical Training
Duygulu is a member of European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) Community and Facial Plastic Surgery Community of Turkey (TPCD).Throughout his career, Dr. Hasan Duygulu has attended numerous national and international congresses in the fields of facial rejuvenation and rhinoplasty, actively exchanging knowledge and surgical experience with colleagues from around the world. In 2016, he further expanded his surgical expertise by participating in deep-plane facelift cadaver dissection courses and scientific meetings led by Prof. Dr. Giovanni Botti and Dr. Michelle Pascali.
Dr. Duygulu has 17 years of experience in primary and revision rhinoplasty and 14 years of experience in facelift surgery. Over the past nine years, he has primarily adopted the deep-plane facelift technique, while superficial approaches such as SMAS lifting, plication, and imbrication are now used only in very selected and uncommon cases. After performing hundreds of facial rejuvenation procedures, Dr. Duygulu has developed his own surgical philosophy and has introduced individual modifications to the deep-plane facelift technique based on his extensive clinical experience. His approach is focused on achieving natural, harmonious, and long-lasting results while preserving the individual characteristics and identity of each patient. Rather than defining himself simply as “a facelift surgeon,” Dr. Duygulu describes himself as a specialist who analyzes facial aging from an anatomical perspective and has developed a distinct philosophy of facial rejuvenation. When asked about his approach to facelift surgery, he explains: “My goal is not just to make the patient younger. My goal is to restore the anatomical relationships that aging has altered, while preserving their identity.” Preserving each patient’s individual facial expression, natural appearance, and unique facial dynamics is of paramount importance to Dr. Duygulu. During surgery, he places great emphasis on respecting the anatomical structures responsible for these characteristics and aims to achieve rejuvenation without compromising the patient’s identity.
Scientific Contribution and International Recognition
Dr. Duygulu was granted eligibility to enter the European Board Examination Certification in Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (https://www.ebec-fprs.org/about-us/) through the regular track after submitting his previous facial rejuvenation cases, surgical experience, and relevant training to the examination committee. Dr. Duygulu is committed to continuous professional development, regularly following the latest scientific literature, surgical innovations, and international meetings in facial plastic surgery. He believes that there is no single surgical technique that can be appropriately applied to every patient. His philosophy is based on individualized treatment planning.
Before performing facial rejuvenation surgery, he carefully analyzes each patient’s facial anatomy, patterns of aging, and individual aesthetic goals, and determines in advance which surgical techniques and maneuvers are most appropriate for that particular patient.
The same individualized philosophy applies to his rhinoplasty practice. Dr. Duygulu does not adhere to a single rhinoplasty technique; instead, he selects the approach according to the patient’s anatomy and specific needs. He performs both open and closed rhinoplasty, as well as structural and preservation rhinoplasty techniques, and utilizes extension grafts, strut techniques, and other reconstructive maneuvers when indicated. His objective is always to select the most appropriate technique for the individual patient rather than applying a standardized surgical approach.
